HONC 32 – report

11th April 2016 Off By WinchCC

CONGRATULATIONS to all riders who finished this year’s HONC – the very wet mud & wind conspired to produce conditions that were, by common consent pretty brutal. COMMISERATIONS to riders whose bikes gave up in the mud before they did!

Leading riders home were 50K – Benoit Davies (Winchcombe CC) 50 K in 2hr 30m & 100K – Chris Thompson (Dave’s Cycles) in 4hr 52m.

A HUGE thank you to over 110 volunteers from Winchcombe CC & Cheltenham & County CC who helped run the day so successfully – we couldn’t do it without you!

Thanks to Gloucestershire Police for their invaluable help at the start, The Mayor of Tewkesbury Borough, Councillor Ron Allen for starting our event, Winchcombe School, St John, Guiting Village Hall & Playing Field & particularly our local landowners for their co-operation & allowing us permissive use for the day on their land. Thanks also to Leisure Lakes who did a really sterling job repairing very, very muddy bikes.

We’ll be in touch with one lucky Junior Riders soon to tell them they have won a Whyte Hardtail MTB in this year’s Junior Prize Draw.

Take a look at this great aerial footage of the start.

Hope to welcome you back to the Cotswolds next year.
