WINCHCOMBE CC ANNUAL DINNER & PRIZEGIVING

This year was again held at Prescott Lodge.

Club president John Taylor welcomed club members, guests & special guests Neil & Beccy Reynolds, in recognition of Neil’s continuing success in National Time Trials, racing in Winchcombe CC colours.

John reviewed highlights of a very full 12 months of club activities

  • First aid Courses, Affiliation with British Cycling & Online membership, Boxing Day Downhill, Club Christmas Lunch, GRAVITAS Dinner, HONC, AGM, British Heart Foundation fund raiser , Mountain Mayhem Endurance Race at Gatcombe Park, Maratona dles Dolomiti in Italy, Winchcombe Country Show, The Winchcombe Falling Leaves Audax, National Hill Climb Championship in Matlock (Neil)
  • Appointment of David Thomas as Club General Secretary at this year’s AGM
  • Thanks to John Mackelworth our outgoing General Secretary after many years of service to the club & his appointment as an Hon. Club Vice President.
  • Donations from this year’s Hell of the North Cotswolds (HONC) of £4600 to local & national charities including Air Ambulance.

He also congratulated the 6 club members who had married in the past 12 months

He commented that the club is in good shape & that our regular rides are well supported & numbers continue to grow. He also thanked committee members for the work they do for the club & paid tribute to the 4 club members who continue with their British Cycling coaching activities.

The club continues to support local schools to meet the cost of their cycle training.

Hon. Vice President Brian Hayward joined John to present prizes to this year’s winners.

Brian reviewed some of Neil’s notable achievements & presented him with a plaque commemorating his 4 Time Trial Club records in 2015 & a medal to commemorate his new 2016 50 mile record of 1hr 58m 29 sec.

John concluded the formal part of the evening by thanking Emma & Jim for organising the excellent evening & also Ciaran & his staff at Prescott Lodge for looking after so well.
