A tour of Cleeve hill

A massive thank you to Chantal and Ellie for leading the MTB ride on Cleeve Common on Saturday 4th of October to highlight the rare and endangered spices that go to make this an SSSI and one of the most important areas of unimproved limestone grassland in Gloucestershire.

I was especially impressed by the torrential rain low cloud and cold conditions the girls managed to lay on but despite this there was a strong turnout from both Winnchcombe CC and Cheltenham and County CC.
Clearly the promise of the burger prepared post ride did the trick.

On a serious note it was a great opportunity for the cyclists to understand the pressures imposed on this fabulous local amenity and enabled discussion of how we can play our part in helping to conserve the sensitive areas while still enjoying the enormous freedoms we have been permitted cycling on and around Cleeve Common
