* route sheets and Tracklogs file now available – see below * Winchcombe Cycling Club has run this 'Brevet Populaire' event for several years. The route takes you into the heart of the Cotswold hills using many of the small lanes in the area. Among the highlights along the way are the pictoresque towns of Bibury (an ideal lunch stop) and Bourton-on-the-Water. It is a hilly and rewarding 100km ride taking place on Sunday 01 October. Low gearing is recommended. Again, we are providing the route in digital form for use with a Garmin GPS computer (see below). This is created using Tracklogs mapping software - the same technology we use to map the HONC. > Download the route sheet (requires Acrobat reader) |

This 200km event is being organised by club member Pete Morris. The ride sets out from Brecon taking a scenic route across the Brecon Beacons to Llandovery from where it then traverses the Cambrian Mountains - the green desert of Wales from which the event takes its name - to the small welsh speaking town of Tregaron. It then follows the Valleys of Ystwyth and Elan, the home of the Red Kite and renowned for its scenic mountain scenery and reservoirs to Rhayader. The final leg tracks southwards following the luscious valley corridor of the River Wye before returning to Brecon. It has become a classic must-ride audax. As one rider said in last year's event "if you only ever ride one 200km audax this has got to be the one".>> Click here to obtain an entry form |
