Neil Reynolds in 1st Place
“The club skin suit has had its first outing at the RTTC Buxton TT. The weather was dry and sunny with just a bit of wind to deal with on the first long climb. The field was strong and only a few DNS’, being the largest event to date with 181 entries.
As I started off, my hill climbing idol Tevjan Pettinger, number 75 went past. This seemed a good opportunity to see if I could climb as well as a national hill climb champion. Obviously he started to put some time into me but not as much as I thought. By this point it was I was starting to think I may have gone too deep but decided to press on regardless. On completion of my first lap I could see I was about 1 min 30 seconds up on last years time so I was feeling good; the second lap was obviously more enjoyable as it was the last and I just enjoyed it more and more. I pushed as hard as could all the way up to the finish with the thought that I didn’t want to lose out to someone buy a second which can happen too often. My support crew (the wife) met me and supplied water and food before I went off for a recovery ride.
When I returned to the HQ I was please to see I have made it into the top 3 but shocked to see I was in first place! (Road Bike Veteran) I was presented with my prize money and also won a spot prize for being the first road bike based on target time. Very pleased :)”
Congratulations Neil, first of many we hope.
